Reverse Auction for Japan

A little while back when all eyes were on the devastation that hit Japan, Jenny Doh sent out a request to several artist to create a piece of work that would later be auctioned off, all proceeds going to help those suffering.

Of course I said ‘yes’ as did all of the others asked. To suffer like that is beyond imagining and we all know art can heal in many different ways.

I would like to encourage you to go to the REVERSE AUCTION FOR JAPAN and consider buying a piece of artwork. We all have different ways we can reach out to those in need.

New News

They’re here! I can’t believe it, my first line of stamps are in my hands!!! And I’m so excited about these because they will take stamping into a whole new, artistic direction!

I love when things work together, coinciding at the perfect time. I know it’s not a coincidence, and am so thankful for the opportunity. Through a rather interesting chain of events, (I’ll be sharing a podcast interview with Rice Freeman-Zachery about this soon) I was lead to one such opportunity-developing a line of products, that are new and innovative, and work in perfect unison with my desire for my line of Sketch Stamps!

Derivan Liquid Pencil is a product I’ve used in articles and in my book, and I’m so excited to have been invited to co create a new line of user-friendly products that will make this fantastic medium applicable to many more aspects of mixed media art. I will also be sharing the stamps and the new products in my only new online workshop for 2011! Stay tuned for Crescendoh updates on this.

This large set of stamps will be part of the class kit!

Which brings me to another adventure! Cortona Italy 2012-Liquid Sketching with me! I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to this and to sharing art with a small group as we travel around Cortona!  If you are interested in finding out more, please click the above link to see the fabulous itinerary we have planned! I can’t think of a more enriching experience than sharing a love of art, journaling, and travel with fellow artists.

If you haven’t checked out the Create Mixed Media website yet I encourage you to do so! Lot’s of great articles, podcasts, and Artist Profiles. I’m honored to be the current artist profiled and would love it if you stopped by to leave a comment!

Well, that’s enough of what’s going on for now, believe it or not, there’s even more! I’ll share when I can and thank you all for the encouraging comments and support! I’m so excited to bring you new things and continuing to share the love of art we all have in common.

Day 15-Book Blog Tour

Today we are off to my friend Julie Bergmann’s blog! Julie and I also met a few years ago at the ZNE ConvenZioNE

Pictured here Donna Cook, Brandie Butcher-Isley, me, Lisa Kettell, and Julie Bergmann

We hit it off right away and I ended up going back to CA to visit, the both of us heading up to Stampington & Co where we had fun competing each other in one of Jenny Doh’s funny videos!

I love this picture, it’s Jenny Doh telling Julie her work is on the cover of Art Doll!

And speaking of Jenny, she has asked me back as an alumni curator on Crescendoh. My Art Saves story is deeply personal, about something that was and is still going on in my family. I invite you to read it in the hopes that by sharing we all find comfort.

Julie is one of those people you meet that you just know you would have been friends with even back in school. Take a few minutes and go check out her website full of lovely creations!

Book Blog Tour!

I’m very excited to announce that my book is being launched with a Blog Tour! Each day for the next couple of weeks there will be a different stop and you will be able to see some amazing websites and blogs, many of them from the contributors from my book!

The tour starts tomorrow with Jenny Doh.  Please be sure to stop by Jenny’s blog to put your name in the hat to win a copy of my book, admission to my latest (and only new online workshop for 2011) featuring MY NEW LINE OF PORTRAIT SKETCH STAMPS!!

The full line of these stamps will be available in the Shop at Crescendoh, and the class kit will include two of these in a large size especially developed for the workshop!

We will use the stamps to learn to draw and paint faces using mediums you might not normally use, learning to mix colors, sketch, shade, and draw your own faces. The really cool thing about these stamps is that you can continue on with what you learn in class and use them to develop your own style of portraits!

All you have to do is leave Jenny a comment and she will pick a name on March 5th!!

This is a picture of my first visit to Stampington & Co. I cannot even tell you what it felt like to see my name on Jenny’s white board that day. I was in awe of her energy, enthusiasm and utter professionalism while remaining open, approachable and friendly. Jenny inspires me to keep moving forward without fear. Bouncing ideas around with her makes me realize that you aren’t ever ‘done’, you just keep moving ahead to the next thing, big or small. It’s the forward motion that gets those creative juices bubbling. I can’t thank her enough for providing opportunities for artists to share their love of art with others. So take a minute and pop on over to her blog and check out all the exciting things she has going on!
