ATC’sssssssssssssssssss

I have been a busy gal getting ATC’s done to swap at the ConvenZioNE. I wanted to come up with some that reflect my work so I decided to little mini portraits. Oh my, is it time consuming. But they are coming together and this batch is completely done. I added the event, year and a message to all of the cards so people will remember where they got them later. I am also doing some ‘Caged Heart’ cards because that is what I’m teaching there. I still have a stack of 1/2 done cards that I will be attacking tomorrow, but for today I feel good to have gotten this big bunch finished. Anyone wanting to check out the Art Retreat can click on the button in my right hand column and it will take you right to all the info.

I’ve also been working on my kits for the mini workshop I will be doing. They are coming along, just waiting for some supplies that are in the mail. Hope to see some of you there:-)

Angel Art

I have met up with several old friends from high school via Facebook. How fun to catch up and reminisce about ‘the good old days’. One of my friends was in art class with me and she asked me to paint her an angel. I used some new colored pencils recommended to me by one of the teachers from the SWM Art Teachers assoc. He very graciously shared his Prisma colored pencils at the workshop, so I just had to make a little trip to Michael’s today and wouldn’t you know they were on sale, so how could I resist? I used Pan Pastel’s a bit on the background. I just love the quote as it fits the meaning behind the piece to a “T”.

Round Two of Visual Art Journalism 101

Wondering what to do these last few weeks before school lets out? My Visual Art Journaling 101 workshop begins round two Monday the 6th! The first workshop had over 100 attendees and we had so much fun. You can check out Creative Workshops and see the classes being offered for reasonable rates and I am now offering mine in an ‘open format’ so you can work at your own pace and have complete access to all of the class videos/materials with no time constraints. I also provide a 32 page booklet including colored pictures of all of the sample pages in progress that can be printed out and spiral bound for future reference. This is just one of the sample pages that you will follow through to completion.

Shade’s of Grey, Pitt Pens in Moleskine journals, has been coming along great and we are going to leave it open also so it’s not too late to join.

I want to thank all of you sweet readers for your prayers and kind words regarding my step mom. So many have been touched by this disease, but the continued advancements in treatment options give us encouragement.

I’m Back, finally

It seems like forever since I’ve posted. We had an amazing time in D.C., walking our legs off going to museums and monuments everyday. To say it was inspiring would be an understatement. I have not even uploaded the pictures yet, just trying to catch up on home-life and things first. I did finish this piece. I saw so many beautiful works of art my head is simply swimming. I was itching to get back in my studio and put some sketches to good use. This one is titled ‘Remember‘.

On the home front, we came home to the upsetting news that my step mom has Breast Cancer. We won’t know anything more until Friday, but I would so appreciate your prayers. My family has been through this battle before, twice with my dad and once with my step dad, all with good outcomes, so we are being as positive as we can about the battle ahead.

I have much more to share, but not much time today, I am getting ready for a speaking engagement with the Southwest Missouri Art Teachers Association this Saturday. The president of the assoc asked me to demonstrate some art journal techniques after reading my article in Somerset’s Art Journaling. I am looking forward to this opportunity.

Angels Everywhere

I took a break from the writing/taping/business side of art to work on this series of angels. Oh what a lovely day it was!
Sun shining, I headed to the backyard and painted outside.
The birds were singing and the temperature was perfect, I even painted my toenails and put on flip flops!
It is so inspiring to take your art outside.
The peaceful quiet, the warm sun, the music of nature, all combine in an inspiring calming of the senses.
No frantic rushing today,
just a joyous time spent doing what I love to do.
Available in my Etsy Shop
Also, if you are interested in the ‘Shades of Grey’ Workshop, it begins next Monday!
