Caged Heart

this is the prototype for the Caged Heart ATC I will be teaching at ZNE’s ConvenZioNE at the end of the month. I wanted to include as many techniques as possible in the one hour per class time-table and this demonstrates the use of acrylics with glazing medium, stamping, stenciling, an image transfer method that is foolproof, water soluble graphite pencil with a blending medium, Pitt pen detail, dip-dot heart, journaling, and shading/highlighting with charcoal.

I have listed this one for sale in my etsy shop. The theme comes from an ATC that was published in Cloth, Paper, Scissors July ’09.

With Love and Prayers to JoAnnA Pierotti and her husband Ron

JoAnnA Pierotti is an inspiration to all the lives she touches. She has dealt with her own health battles and those of her husbands. They are now faced with a new challenge as her husband, Ron, has a brain tumor and will need immediate surgery or will only have a few weeks to live. Izabella has set up a fund to help them cover medical costs and asked that whoever can, to contribute and spread the news. Our prayers are needed and my heart goes out to them both.

TGIF

Thank you everyone for participating in my sale! It is now officially over, and the rest of the packages will go out tomorrow.
I just ordered some new prints of some sold originals and I will let you know when they arrive.
Also on the immediate horizon, my article, ‘Wearing My HeArt on My Sleeve’ will be in the upcoming issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors. This article includes step out pictures of one of my portraits.
I am going to go and relax after a day of mulching, planting, and mowing. The yard looks great, me not so much:-)
Have a great weekend all!

Tax Day, I filed an extension…

Ok, I am so behind, just plain old a lot going on right now. I know you can relate. So, our tax guy and my D.H. can never get together because D.H. is flying all the time so we can make more money so we can pay more to the government, LOL! Note my son’s drawing of daddy’s airplane. It’s not really funny, but the point is we filed an extension to relieve some stress. I also noticed a couple of days ago that I had reached another blog milestone of 30,000 hits since I installed my counter and had planned to do a giveaway, but I just did a giveaway to 7 people on facebook, so I’m going to do a sale instead. I filed an extension on that too:-) So today, tax day and extending it to tomorrow at 5:00pm I will give not one, but all of you, my blog readers 50% off of ANYthing in my shop! One item discount per person and the discount will be credited back to your paypal account after the item is purchased. Fun huh? I’m not advertising this in my shop, it is for my blog readers, to show how much I appreciate you all.

Silent Consumption

A pear should have such a texture as leads to silent consumption”

I love to play around with pear shapes. There is no ‘wrong’ form as each pear is unique and slightly different.

This pear was done with my new Caran d’ache Pablo colored pencils. Smooth lay down, creamy, no waxy build up. Ability to layer color on top of luscious color and blend-able.

A perfect compliment to my Moleskine journal.

A side by side comparison to Prisma colored pencils. So many colors to choose from! A bit harder to color with, and a waxy build up, but still lovely and fun to play with.

And did I mention the color choices?

Endless possibilities…

I like playing with pears so much that I actually have some pear stamps, so I used those too.

This is one of my favorite pieces, it was published in Cloth, Paper, Scissors July/Aug ’08. Layers of papers, wax, inks, stamps, shading, writing on canvas.

This journal page was the inspiration for the piece.
