New Work

‘Wishful Thinking’ 11×14 oil on board

My journey into oil painting finally lead me to do a portrait. I’m really loving exploring this medium that I have avoided for most of my art life. I’ve been heads down painting for many weeks and also busy  participating in local gallery shows, pop up art events etc. It’s a different path than the one I was on for so many years, but I’m really loving it.

I’ve updated my Gallery page with new work. If you see something you’re interested in you can contact me at pamcarriker@gmail.com  I don’t want to open a store or list them for sale because some are in gallery spaces or other venues and I don’t want to create confusion if it gets sold before it’s updated here. All of the work is framed in a gallery style, black wood frame, wired and ready to hang.

I’m especially enjoying still life painting. I love using objects from around my home in them to add sentimentality to the work.

Capturing reflections, light and shadow and painting metals and glass are especially intriguing to me.

Mind Wide Open Challenge October

It’s that time again, time for the Mind Wide Open Challenge. Gail provided another stunning image for us to use. The little girls look like they are all dressed up for Christmas, so I decided to make some Victorian inspired ornaments. I used a template from The Stampers’ Sampler, and some of the techniques I used in my pieces that are featured in there this month. The little windows have collaged bits of papers, and are filled in with Diamond Glaze to give them the appearance of old glass. The card stock has been distressed, stamped, inked and has bits of papers collaged onto it as well. Some lovely beaded fringe hangs from the bottom and some have a beautiful red cardinal attached. Ornate hangers, crystal snowflakes, paper roses, old, rusty keys, and ribbon complete the embellishments. These are completely decorated on the back as well, with bits of real vintage sheet music, a vintage Santa, and more. Voting starts on the 7th, so don’t forget to head over to MWO for inspiring ideas and lots of beautiful goodies to look at.
