I recently closed my print shop on etsy. It was a hard decision as it was my original shop and had over 1000 hearts and 300 positive feedback. But I’m trying to move away from ‘The Bag Lady’ and it had to be done. I don’t want to have to list the prints I have left as my art is moving in a different direction and I’m on to new adventures. So, for this weekend only I’m having a BLOGGER SALE EVENT! 30% off the entire shop of original artwork, and A FREE PRINT WITH MATT for every piece purchased! The print will be of my choosing but all are 8×10 professional photo prints that I have a printing company do for me. Each will come backed by archival chipboard, matted and in a protective sleeve. The 30% discount will be reimbursed via PayPal after the order is placed, just check out as normal and I will do the rest.

When you go to pay for your purchase type the word ‘BLOGGER’ into the comment section so I’ll know you came by way of my blog. Feel free to spread the word, I don’t have many originals left. The sale will last until Sunday, after that I will be closing the shop for a few days to revamp it and list some new work. Several of the items in the shop have been featured in magazines so you may recognize them.

Thank you as always for your continued friendship and support of my work, it’s greatly appreciated!

Share Art

While writing down my goals for 2010 I realized there was a recurring theme, ‘Share Art’. Every goal was about sharing art in some way. It’s been the emerging theme from my journal pages, the voice of my muse.

When your muse is speaking it’s wise to listen. I have several ‘Share Art’ projects in the works and hope to add several more venues in the near future.

First on my list for today is ‘Hearts for Haiti’ an Etsy Shop opened to allow artists to share their work, all proceeds go to Haiti relief efforts, while artists donate work and pay for worldwide shipping. ‘Heart of Hearts’ is my donation. A 16×20 mixed media canvas. Pass the word around about this shop and let’s share art and raise money to help the horrible situation in Haiti.

I’d also like to Share Art with one of my blog readers! I just reached 300 followers and haven’t had a GIVEAWAY for awhile, so this seems like a great time! I’m going to giveaway an ONLINE WORKSHOP! Your choice of the three I have open right now, VISUAL JOURNALISM 101, SHADES OF GREY, or PURSUING PORTRAITS. If you have already taken all three, please still sign up and I’ll give you a $40 gift certificate for my Etsy Print Shop! And just to keep things fun, if we reach 100 entrants, I’ll up the giveaway to include two winners!!

So please encourage others to share in this giveaway, post on your blog, tweet, facebook, whatever way you want and help me to Share Art! Giveaway will end January 24th at 12:00pm, all you have to do is comment on this post~

Blog Giveaway Results!

OK, so I get up this morning, early, before everyone else, and go to my giveaway post to print out the names of all of you lovely people who came by to visit me….and realize that I said WEDNESDAY I would do the drawing-ugh! I am so sorry, I don’t usually do that, but I somehow had it in my head that I was doing it today. Maybe I should read my own blog posts more often-LOL! So, because of that and the fact that so many of you were kind enough to leave a comment and to post my giveaway on your own blogs, I will draw two names, and the second person will receive two 5×7 prints of these works!
And now for the drum roll please…………(excuse me for not taking pictures of the process, I am trying to be quiet as to not wake anyone so I’m sitting in the dark typing this), the first winner is Bevie of Bevie Loves the Lord she is also a fellow artist and ZNE member so stop by and visit her inspirational blog, congratulations!!! The second is, Chrysti Hydeck, an amazing artist I met through ZNE, you can visit her awesome blog here, throwing confetti!!!! I really am blown away by the response. 10,000 Hits, Time To Say Thank You!

Wow, that was so fun to see the meter reach 10,000 hits! I actually missed seeing the actual number, I went to bed a few shy and got up and it was over. This whole blogging community is so wonderful. I started this out of neccessity, or so I thought, only to find a warm, ever widening, circle of friends. You are all so inspiring. It is so encouraging to visit each other and see what is going on in everyone’s life, and to watch each other grow as artists.

To thank you, I would love to give one of you these two new 8×10 prints! The originals were purchased by a gallery, but I just loved them, so I printed out only one set in 8×10 size. Just leave a little note on this post and next Wednesday I will draw one of your names. Thank you for visiting my blog, and leaving little notes that are so encouraging to me
Feel free to post these images on your blog to let your friends know about the giveaway. I love to go and visit, so I will come to everyone who signs up and say ‘hi’! Get the coffee cups out!

Exciting News!

Wow! This morning I looked at my hit counter, and it is at 9,900 since I installed it! I’m feeling a little give away when it hits the 10,000 mark, so stay tuned…

I have some of exciting news to share with you. Gail Schmidt, of Shabby Cottage Studios, and Mind Wide Open, is now going to offer online workshops at Creative Workshops! She has asked me to teach one and I am very excited to do so. I will be teaching ‘Visual Journalism 101‘ starting January 12th. I will post more when it gets a bit closer and registration is open for the class, but you can head over to Creative Workshops and check out Sherry Smyth’s class, ‘Home For The Holidays’ and join the network.

January 2009 will also see two articles and my journal pages from my first two journals published in the inaugural issue of Somerset’s ‘Art Journals’. I am so very happy to be able to share how meaningful keeping a visual journal can be, and what a valuable tool it is in creative pursuits.
