Angels Everywhere

I took a break from the writing/taping/business side of art to work on this series of angels. Oh what a lovely day it was!
Sun shining, I headed to the backyard and painted outside.
The birds were singing and the temperature was perfect, I even painted my toenails and put on flip flops!
It is so inspiring to take your art outside.
The peaceful quiet, the warm sun, the music of nature, all combine in an inspiring calming of the senses.
No frantic rushing today,
just a joyous time spent doing what I love to do.

Memories

Even though the meaning behind this piece is deeper than this, it so goes with how today makes me feel. I have been busy at the computer for most of the day, while the sun shines in from the window, warming me up and filling my studio with bright light. Memories of summer danced around while I was finishing this earlier today. It is a whopping 70 degrees today! We have such crazy weather, tonight they are calling for thunderstorms and a drop in the temperature. You just never know. I’m itching for spring, and summer, and sun.

Nest

Today is one of those rainy, windy, don’t want to leave the house kind of days. The kind where you want to cuddle up in your cozy nest and work in your journal, read a good book, or maybe get ambitious and make some cookies. I’m doing all of those things as well as finishing off this new piece for my etsy shop.
I have also added custom cut mats to all of my fine art prints so that they are easy to pop into an 8×10 frame with no worries about have a special mat cut. I’m offering the same type of mattes in a 5×7 size for my ATC/ACEO’s also, making them great for framing.
Hope you have some quiet, nesting time today~enjoy

Give

I just finished this piece with the simple title of ‘Give‘. As women, we give of ourselves daily in the most mundane ways. We give to our children as we perform the daily activities of living, making sure they have clean clothes, good food, and a loving home. We give to our husbands by giving support, encouragement and love. As artists we give to our fellow artists as we share our passion and inspiration. We support each other in our artistic pursuits and share our discoveries as we journey. Each work is a step on the path to discovering ourselves. What is important to us, what moves us, what inspires us. I know we all work in different ways, I rarely plan out a piece. I sometimes will work from a rough sketch, but the words almost always come last. I let the piece tell me what it wants to say. The faces are drawn right to canvas, using the same basic techniques, but always each has a different face. this is becoming more evident as I am incorporating more than one face in some of my recent works. How does this happen? I don’t know, but love that it does. I feel like each one is her own person. Sometimes we need just a simple, one word reminder of the things that are important. So remember to ‘give’ today, and remind yourself of the many daily things you do that are giving.
