Sometimes before you go forward, it’s good to take a look back. I was looking through my art journals and it’s fun to see how much my work has changed yet still has a certain look to it. This is my very first official art journal page. I remember making the decision to start journaling and wondering if I’d keep it up.
You can see by the ‘theme’ that I started journaling in the summer, summer of ’07.
These pages are rough around the edges but art journaling isn’t about being ‘perfect’ or precise. It’s about capturing art quickly, experimenting, random thoughts expressed visually.
There is no one way or right way to journal. It can change, it should change, as you grow and develop your art skills. If you haven’t made the commitment to journal, summer is a great time to start!
you were just born with amazing talent, sweet girl! Beautiful work then and even more now….
Well you can’t helo it if you were BORN that way with such amazing talent, sweet girl! Beautiful work since day one and forever.
Pam,
Your work,as always, is inspiring. I can use both the inspiration, and the reminder to not labor over my journal!
Thank you for sharing your early journal pages…they are really great…I, too, started journaling on a beach vacation in 2007…it only gets better and more fun and it’s such a wonderful creative outlet…I’m preaching to the choir!
Art certainly does change. I have decided to journal my summer traveling, a first for me in the art journaling department. Thanks for your inspiration,
Thanks for sharing your journal pages. It is truly a look back in time. A journal from several years ago that I did while babysitting two of my granddaughters even has a bandaid or two … one of the girls was “into” bandaides, and I let the girls journal in the same book…
I just love your art journaling pages! You are such a huge inspiration to me. I LOVE your new book and I think I have watched all your youtube videos! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us!
Lovely, lovely. You are a naturally gifted artist alright. How long does a page take you to complete?
woww! you were just WONDERFUL from the begging too!! I guess you took away my hope that someday I could do something great…I agree with Sara’s comments! 😉
Noooo – you have shattered my dream – the one that says that all my arty idols’ first pages were probably just as naff as mine, so with enough practice I can be great too. Your first pages are beautiful! I’m off now to sulk 🙂 I especially love the sun page, and the last one with its effortless dreamy layers and that unusual number stencil.
These are gorgeous first pages!
These are great pages! I love the puzzle pieces used in the one page – what an interesting image, and both the positive and negative spaces of it are interesting! Thanks for sharing!
wow I misspelled “excellent”! sorry!
Very pretty pages and pretty exceleent for first attempts!!!
Your work is incredible! Do you hold workshops in Springfield, as well?
