Another Journal Page to Share

I am so loving this journal. I started this last night and finished it first thing this morning, before breakfast but not before coffee-lol! Nothing ever before coffee. I love the large size of this journal too. It feels good. I love working so ‘loosely’. These crayons allow you to do such quick portraits and the black lends a unique feel to the pages. I’m thinking this one will find it’s way to canvas. I just love the quote.

New Shop!

I recently opened a new shop and slowly but surely have been moving things over there. The new shop, pamcarriker.etsy.com is for original artwork and comissions. My old shop, thebagladysart.etsy.com will hold all of my prints. I outsource my printmaking to a professional printer and have really loved the results. I just listed several new prints and will be listing a few more, including my ballerina, ‘Wistful Glories’ next week. I only make 20 prints of 8×10 size of each work. The prints come with custom mats so you can easily pop them right into a frame. The mats are signed and titled and the prints are signed and numbered on the back in archival
pen. For more printing information you can checkout my shop.
This is the latest limited edition print I am offering. ‘Letting Go’ is featured in the current Cloth Paper Scissors The original is not for sale.
I would love if you would come by and heart my new shop, I will return the favor!

Melange Team Weekly Challenge

The Melange Team Weekly Challenge word is ‘Dance’. How lovely is that? It conjures up all sorts of graceful, lovely, and even fun images. This piece, ‘Wistful Glories’ is one I did some time ago. I spent some time in a gallery at ZNE’s convenzione and I picked it up when I went to this years retreat. I had it at my table during my make and take and it sold. I don’t do a lot of sales in person. Most are done online and I never meet the people who buy my art. I always love to hear from them and it warms my heart to hear when my work has found a good home and is being enjoyed. This sale was face to face and the woman seemed to love it so. It was a great feeling and made my heart feel like dancing. I really loved this piece and it was good to see it again, but my art is made to share. It is sometimes a bit hard to part with it, but as soon as it leaves me I am ready to make another work of heart. It is a great feeling to share something as personal as art.
P.S. Here is the journal page that was the inspiration behind this piece.

A New View

I never do this view of the face, but journals are all about experimenting so I gave it a try while journaling in bed last night. My poor husband would be shocked to see the amount of art supplies that come to bed with me when he’s gone, LOL! And barring the Gesso Incident’ he has really no clue. He only saw the spot on the comforter after I cleaned it up! Remember that commercial for Temperpedic mattresses where they have a wine glass on the bed and they jump on it? Well it’s true! My water bucket can sit on the bed while I paint!! So glad we invested in a good bed that I can paint in-hehe.
Time to fess up, do you take your art to bed with you?

Another New Journal

I think I have a problem. I have 5 journals that I’m working in at this moment and I just added a 6th! This one is a 7 x 10 Strathmore Black Field Drawing Notebook. It has lovely heavy black pages. I got it to play with my Caran d’ache crayons in. I find it a good thing to mix up the size of book you are working in. It helps you to stretch your creative muscle. This little portrait was done with the water soluble crayons and fluid matte medium. Layer after layer of crayon was built up over the black. After working on white, this is a refreshing twist. I am looking forward to playing some more tonight.
