Day 30, Renewal

Well, I did work on a journal page today, but wanted to finish this and get it listed in my etsy shop, (sold) so this is what I will share for now. It is titled ‘Renewal’ and done on a cradled hardboard canvas. It reminds me of the sun shining on winter snow, which is just what we had today. Hope the sun is shining wherever you are:-)

Day 29, STRESS

It was just one of ‘those’ days. I got up, day 3 of no school due to snow, and between drying snow clothes, cooking, dishes, laundry, eye doctor appointment, and life, I just did not get done what I wanted to. I just put my little guy to bed, he is pooped from snowboarding, and hubby is making me a cup of tea, and I am going to go and lock myself into my studio for a couple of hours. These pages were done in my moleskine with pitt pens. They are nothing like what I envisioned this morning. But that is the beauty of letting the page dictate where it will go. I feel so much better and clear headed getting it all out. Now I can go and be productive. I hope your day was productive:-)
Nancy Lefko, who is featured in the post below, has gifted me with this blog award. I am to list 5 things I am into right now, so here goes…
1.) Art journals-go figure:-)
2.) Sharing a love for art through workshops and writing
3.) Spring cleaning (I know, I’m early)
4.) Playing with mediums, experimenting
5.) My family, even though they drove me a little nuts earlier today:-)

New Class on Creative Workshops by Nancy Lefko

My friend Nancy Lefko will be teaching an online class through Creative Workshops, registration is now open, so be sure to check it out!
Just as artists benefit from a support system, every work of art needs a supportive background. This five-session class will guide you through the process of creating a background rich in pattern, color and design. We’ll start with the hardback cover of an old book as our base and add papers, paint, designs and inks to create the perfect background to compliment your focal point. This class will be a combination of images, written instructions and video.Workshop begins March 9, 2009Fee: $40

Day 28, Still at it!

I’ve been working in my moleskine sketchbook, testing different mediums to see what it will hold up to. The pages on the left were done using water soluble crayon and Matte Gel Medium and the ones on the right were done just with colored pencil. Both work great and none of the Pitt Pen bled through the page at all. Love the smoothness of the pages, a really lovely feel to these favored journals. I had to fuzz out a bit of the writing, but wanted to share my newest journal with you. What did you journal about today?

Day 27, feelings of friendship

I am continually amazed by the bonds of friendship that form online between artists. People who have never met in real life, but connect through their common interest in art. For my ‘feelings’ page I have journaled about one such friendship, while working out some details in my mind about an art swap the two of us are doing. Journals are a great way to work things out, make notes, and find inspiration for a project. I used my water soluble crayon with matte medium for this one. Thank you Sharon for that tip:-)
